Eating Right for a Better Lifestyle!

"My story I'd like to share with you."

I had a "short fuse." I hated getting up in the mornings. I hated driving on the freeway. I disliked my job. I had frequent headaches.

Although I was able to function at work, I knew I could be more efficient and could get more work done. But, I had no motivation to do so.

My miserable life changed after a visit to my family doctor. After learning that I had high blood pressure, and borderline high cholesterol, I was determined to change my lifestyle.

I started to do a few things differently such as eating right. My doctor told me to cut back on my salt intake as much as possible. So my first order of business was to find tasty food that is low in sodium. Not an easy task!

I seem to eat most of the unhealthy food at lunch time. So for lunch I started to visit places like Subways, Quiznos and the deli at the closest supermarket.

While reading a fitness magazine I discovered some healthhy frozen foods that had low sodium content. Some of them were: Healthy Choice Spaghetti with Meat Sauce, Healthy Choice Mandarin Chicken, Healthy Choice Lemon Pepper Fish, Lean Cuisine Chicken Parmesan, Lean Cuisine Cafe Classics Teriyaki Steak and Gorton's Grilled Fillets.

The magazine recommended that you choose "frozen dinners that have less than 700 mg of sodium and stop saturated fat at 3 grams while throwing in at least 3 grams of fiber and 15 grams of protein."

As difficult as it was, I made every effort to drink a lot more water and I cut back of drinking Sprite and other sweet drinks.

To satisfy my craving for sweets and reduce my trips to the vending machine at work, I eat more red grapes and strawberries. Too much sweet is not good but moderate amount of fruits have several benefits over Chess Danish and Honey Bun. Strawberry is a great source of dietary fiber.
